Bristol Ladies

Bristol Ladies is an aspirational rugby club offering players of all levels the opportunity to develop and grow within a welcoming environment.

Our first team currently play in the RFU Women’s Premiership, our development squad in the Championship South West Two.

The club employ a high calibre of coaching staff in former Premiership professionals Roy Davies and Simon Martin. The squad of over sixty players boasts a wealth of talent, from Team GB Olympians, International Stars and BUCS champions, through to a development squad of committed individuals from across the South West.
The first XV have consistently retained their top flight place alongside some of the best clubs in the country, and this summer reached the final of the inaugural Women’s Premiership 7s competition at the Ricoh Arena, broadcast live on BT Sport.

Players are not only Bristol based, but travel from Exeter, Gloucester, Wales and Swindon to play for Bristol Ladies. The club train and play home fixtures at Cleve RFC, a new home for this season.

Our club is welcoming and supportive, providing opportunities for women of all standards to reach their rugby playing potential through our two teams and our sister club programme.

Head Coach – Roy Davies

Roy joined the club as Forwards Coach for the 15/16 season, before being promoted to Head Coach for the 16/17 season – bringing with him four years’ experience working with the RFU Girls Junior Academy.

Davies – who hails from Llanelli, South Wales – began his playing career at local club Bynea RFC, before joining Hartpury College in 2001. Spells at Moseley RFC and Lydney followed before injury forced early retirement from the game. Rejoining his boyhood club, Davies was appointed Director of Rugby and spent two successful years there. A fully qualified level 3 coach, Roy currently coaches the RFU Junior Academy, Bristol Rugby DPP programme and South West U20s, whilst also lecturing in Sport at Bridgewater College and spending any spare time he has with long-suffering wife Sarah and their children Eva -Lily and Cato.
